Reply with quote | #1 | Hi everyone,
Sorry to invade your forum but it’s in a good cause.
On 7th June at Princes Park, Dartford FC will be hosting the 3rd annual Keeper Wars competition. The only competition of it’s kind in the country dedicated to, entered by and run by goal keepers.
We hope to have 60 keepers on the day. So far 48 keepers have entered representing teams such as Ramsgate, Dover, Dartford, Thamesmead, Sutton, Maidstone, Tonbridge Angels and many more.
I‘m pleased to announce that your very own Aaron Omand has also entered. So why not come along, wear your clubs colours, and support your keeper?
The object of the competition is simple.
Keepers compete as pairs and are pitted against other pairs of keepers in a “Round Robin” format which will test their skills, reflexes and fitness to the max, with the winning pair being crowned as the 2009 Keeper Wars Champions.
The rules:
Keepers stand in goals 18 yards apart and each game lasts 3 minutes. In that time they take as many shots, throws, volleys, half-volleys etc as they can on an alternate basis. It’s like boxing for keepers!
If a ball goes out of play then the next pair takes their shot, but if they save the shot and the ball goes back into the attacking pairs half they can follow up their initial shot, and the pair with the most goals wins.
For the non-football fan amongst you their will be other attractions on the day such as face painting, a magician, raffles, a fire engine, special guests and many other attractions.
Another part of Keeper Wars is that every year we support a different charity, and this year we have decided to support The British Heart Foundation.
So, if you're in need of a bit of footie action, why not pop along? Kick-Off is at 11am - Parking and admission is free.
Hope to see you there and thanks for your time.
